Vote Marco P. Fiorito for Monument Trustee
A family man with 8 years of service on the Triview Metro Board, a 20-year Veteran, and a Community volunteer. Strong believer in faith, dignity, and honor.
The town of Monument must own renewable water to be viable for a vibrant future.
The town of Monument needs a strategic vision for commercial and residential development to retain its charm while facing the future.
The Town of Monument must retain and recruit staff to successfully guide the Town into the next century.
We must do this together as a community. Respect for our neighbor's differences, yet working together towards a strong and vibrant Monument!
I moved to Colorado Springs with my wife, Ann-Marie, in the summer of 2010 and to the Monument area in 2013. We have two wonderful children and two rescue dogs that keep us entertained and quite busy. I retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and many moves around the world. I am a graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor degree in history and a fresh new graduate with a Masters in History from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. My interests include reading, skiing, the outdoors in general, cooking and traveling. I am currently employed as a government contractor supporting the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Space Force in the space and air domains providing my intelligence, planning, and operations expertise.
My community service started in the Tri-Lakes area soon after moving to Monument. I began attending the Triview Metro board meetings to better understand how Triview Metro operated. Serving on the Triview Metro board was a way for me to continue my service to my community and my neighbors. I consider it a privilege and an honor to do so (I guess I’m old-fashioned that way). There are many difficult decisions that the board must make to ensure the district supports the residents and the Town of Monument overall. My primary focus has been to improve district operations and the way the district supports and communicates with the residents. Among the most important accomplishments while on the Triview Board has been the purchase of renewable water rights, the acquisition and development of infrastructure to bring critical renewable water to Triview, and the expansion of Jackson Creek Parkway.
As I finish my time on Triview, I felt the need to continue serving, and Town of Monument was a natural choice for me. Having 8 years of experience in a Special District allows me to leverage my knowledge to ensure Monument has the necessary capacity and capability to provide a vibrant community with renewable water rights, a strategic vision for future development, and a modern infrastructure to support Monument into the future, while maintaining the nostalgia of a small town. I also believe Monument must retain and attract credible and competent staff to make our great town the highlight of El Paso County. For me, the best part of serving is when decisions result in a positive and lasting outcome for the Town of Monument.
We must purchase renewable water rights to ensure all of Monument has water for its current and future residents. We must purchase enough rights to provide water for the year at build-out minus peak water season when we can use our wells.
We need to ensure Monument has updated infrastructure to give us access to our water rights, including return flows. Participation in the Northern Delivery System is one such access that can provide us water in 18 months. Emergency access to Triview is also a must to ensure no interruptions to water services.
Access to affordable and scalable wastewater infrastructure is critical. The Northern Monument Creek Interceptor is one such capability available to Monument. I believe Monument should reasses its participation in this project.
Together we can make our voices heard and set a positive path for the future of Monument!
